Scoil Chóca Naofa was a hive of activity today with the marathon run and the official opening of the new sports pitch and running track. Ms. Daly opened the event by detailing all of the work that has gone on behind the scenes over the past three years. She also thanked all the members of the parents association, past and present, for all the fundraising they did that enabled the school to put in these excellent new facilities. A special mention was given to Claire Deane, for coming up with the initial idea of hosting a color run as our fundraiser, and her husband Johnathon Deane, for all his work in installing the track. We were very fortunate that some of our local elite sport stars were able to come and join us today. Paul Robinson and Grace Clifford spoke to the children about the importance of sports in their lives, while Bobby King cut the ribbon to officially open the running track and sports pitch. Bobby and Paul then ran the final marathon mile with the children. Members of the external P.E teachers team also came to celebrate the official opening with us.
