February Run: Week 1

We have been working hard to achieve our Active Flag, even during lockdown! As part of this initiative, for the month of February, the children will cycle/run/jog/walk every day and record their total distances every Friday.

This is a chance for families to get outside, get active and have some fun! Remember… a healthy body is a healthy mind.

Each class group’s total combined distance will be displayed on the school website at the end of every week for everyone to see. Have a look at our statistics from week 1:

Junior & Senior Infants:

The boys and girls in Junior and Senior infants completed an amazing total of 156 km this week. That is the distance from Scoil Chóca Naofa to Waterford! What an achievement! Wow!

First & Second Class:

The boys and girls in 1st and 2nd Class completed a whopping total of 652 km this week. That is the distance from Letterkenny, Co. Donegal to Clonmel, Co. Tipperary and back again! Well done!

Third & Fourth Class:

The boys and girls in 3rd and 4th Class completed an enormous total of 558 km this week. That is the distance from Scoil Chóca Naofa to Clonakilty, Co. Cork and back again! Incredible efforts!

Fifth & Sixth Class:

The girls in 5th and 6th Class completed a colossal total of 354 km this week. That is the distance from Scoil Chóca Naofa to Galway and back again! ! Remarkable!

The grand total is….

Altogether, the children in our school have covered a tremendous distance of 1720km. That is equal to the distance from Edinburgh, Scotland to Berlin in Germany!

School Staff:

Our school staff also completed the challenge. They covered a distance of 1239km. That is equal to the distance from Kosovo to Germany.

Check out some of the photos of the children in action throughout the week. A huge congratulations to all involved. Keep your eyes peeled on the school website to see how we get on next week!
