Newsletter April 2011

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I’m sure you’re all as pleased as I am to see the progress of our new school – well on target for the new school year, buíochas le Dia.

SKIPPING

All classes experienced a brilliant 2 days of activities at our recent skipping  workshop. Skipping is now the ‘craze’ in the school. You can get a sense of some of the excitement by viewing some of the images on the web page.

FIRST PENANCE

The First Penance service went really well on Tues ???? Thanks to Fr PJ and Fr Des, Ms Shanley and Ms Ní Dhalaigh and all the girls and their parents. Everyone is now busy preparing for May 7th. Special thanks to the team of parents who are helping with the Programme at Mass – parents should check the dates of mass and try to attend.

CONFIRMATION

Thank you to all involved in our Confirmation ceremony on Friday 24 March. Well done to all involved especially
To the girls and their parents who prepared so well for the day
To Ms Diggin who did a great job with the preparation; also to Ann for her artistic skills. More than €300, a very generous donation, will be made by the girls to their chosen charities (a) a school for children with Autism; (b) Hospice Cancer Care.
To Fr PJ for a lovely ceremony, especially for his very relevant advice to the girls who will soon move on from Scoil Choca; also Fr Des, Eric and Elaine for the Parish input;
Ms Ní Loinn, Hugh Clarke, Ms Corscadden and the wonderful choir from 4th and 5th classes.

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Jedward and the girls from Scoil Choca ‘rocked’ the town of Kilcock for the parade this year. Well done to all the helpers who organised the FLOAT and to the many WALKERS, SINGERS and DANCERS. Please send in some photos and we will get them onto the web.

Congrats to Aoife Mullaly from 3rd who won the art competition and €200 for the school. Well done also to Leah McNally and Alison Magee for their retail expertise (duck selling) on the days before the parade.

(You can also view Ms Quinn’s and Ms Gordon’s classes presentation for St Patrick’s Day on the web)

NATIONAL CHILDREN’S CHOIR

Congratulations to girls from 5th and 6th classes and their teachers, Ms Ní Loinn, Ms Diggin and Ms Grimes on the occasion of their participation in the Dublin Regional National Children’s Choir on Thurs 31st Mar. The audience made up of parents, brothers, sisters and teachers were very impressed and would definitely agree with compeer, Emanual ??????? when he said “the children had reached a pinnacle in a musical journey begun last Sep”.

PER CENT FOR ART

Maree Hensey and her daughter Ella worked with all the classes: Some of their work will be incorporated into a TIME CAPSULE which will be located near the sculpture; some classes worked at CASTING and we are hoping it will be on display in the entrance to our new school.

CAMOGIE

Lots of Camogie going on in Scoil Choca – mixed results for the Senior League players but reports of great matches; 3rd and 4th classes represented us proudly at a Blitz in Naas on Tues; and Nuala and Kathleen will take on new charges when they begin training with 2nd class next week. Helmets and hurleys will be provided for those who do not have – try not to have hair tied up too much or the helmets may not fit!!!!! Also bring a change of socks and runner in case the grass is wet.
