A Special Olympics Winner

Congratulations to Kerri who won a medal for Bocce in the Eastern Region Special Olympics which was held in DCU at the weekend. Kerri trains in Lucan every Monday evening. Carmel, her mum, visited the school this term to show Kerri’s classmates how to play Bocce.

Bocce is an Italian Game which is very similar to Lawn Bowls. Opposing players and teams play with either red or green balls, competing in singles, doubles and team events.

Bocce may be played on an Astroturf, carpet or clay surface and each playing surface is known as a court. The objective of the sport is to roll a bocce ball closest to the target ball, which is called a pallina.

Kerri is now through to the All Ireland and the World Championships. We are all so proud of her. Kerri also plays Basketball and she loved Hip Hop dancing when Ms Conlon had classes here.
