Newsletter Christmas 2013

Mí na Nollag

Dear Parents/Guardians,
It’s hard to believe that Christmas is just over a week away … the children are so excited. They all thoroughly enjoyed the retail therapy at the Sale of work on Friday. Thank you to all for your generosity. Well done on your baking— the cake stall was a favourite, as always. Special thanks to the Parents Association who organised the day—sorting and pricing all the donations. Sixth Class also made a massive contribution to the success of the event.

Swimming Lessons for Third Class

ATTENTION: THIRD CLASS PARENTS

SWIMMING LESSONS will Mon 13th Jan. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to gain confidence in the water. Classes are organised according to ability and the instructors are particularly encouraging to children who may be a bit worried.
I am always amazed at how much ALL the children enjoy the aquatics programme and the progress they make.
I would welcome help from any parent who might be available to assist on swimming days.
Children will need a swim suit, a swim hat and towel … a turban towel for drying hair is also handy, plastic bag for wet gear..all in a swim bag + armbands (non swimmers), swim socks (optional) €6.50 per week unless already paid

CHRISTMAS ART COMPETITION

Local businesses organised an art competition for the children in the area to coincide with the lighting of the Christmas tree in the Square. Hannah Corcoran’s picture was the winning entry from Scoil Choca Naofa. Well done Hannah!

Well done to all.

Christmas Pageant

Our annual pageant will take place on Friday .. starting at 10.45. The Christmas story told in drama and song— all the well known Christmas carols— is a very special occasion. Last year we changed the format slightly to allow each class to go to the altar to perform their carols. A few overly enthusiastic parents/photographers decided that they should also appear on the altar; this made the children entrance and exit very difficult. This year the “stage area” will be restricted to children ONLY. I know that many of you will want to photograph your child; but no photo can reproduce the wonderful atmosphere of children singing and praying the Christmas story …. So maybe just watch and listen and enjoy the performance and the making of wonderful memories.
Junior Infant parents—this may be your first year …. Your child will dress up in a dressing gown, with a tea towel and hair band/tie for head gear.

Parents of Senior Infants, First and Second classes will know the costume from last year.
Third class, as usual, will be our “angels” so First Communion dresses will be get another outing.
Fourth, Fifth and sixth classes will wear their uniforms.
